A 30-year-old policeman from I. L. Caragiale, Dambovita Co., was found dead in his car, and his girlfriend, age 23, is in hospital in serious condition. Early investigations point to the policeman having killed his lover with the weapon assigned to him and shooting himself to death afterwards, Mediafax reports. “The man was found dead, and the young woman still living was taken to hospital. A criminalist prosecutor-led investigative team is examining the scene, and the Dambovita Internal Affairs Police Office is checking on how the weapon was used and the policemen’s activity,” said sub-inspector Alexandra Niculae, spokesman for Dambovita Police Inspectorate. The woman is in the ICU of Bucharest’s Floreasca Hospital. The hospital spokesman said the victim had been brought to hospital in stable, yet “extremely serious” condition. Colleagues of the policeman, a local deputy police chief who has been divorced since autumn 2012, said he didn’t cause any trouble, and gave November 2012 as the last time he had been psychologically tested.
