Natural gas transmission rates go up

A week ago, the National Regulatory Authority in Energy (ANRE) issued an order increasing the rates charged for the transmission of natural gas. The rates had last been raised in 2009. The increase is important and will apply from April 1, 2013 through to June 30, 2013. Contacted by HotNews, ANRE Vice President Emil Calota says the impact on the end-price paid by consumers is ‘inappreciable’, no more than 1 per cent.

The winner from this latest tariff rise is Transgaz, a company pending listing on the Stock Exchange with 15 per cent of its registered share capital by mid-April. The first phase of gas price liberalisation for households will be implemented on July 1.
