PM Ponta might be sued for slander in Hidroelectrica row

The interim president of PDL Bucharest, Adriean Videanu, former Minister of Economy, announced Tuesday in a press conference that he will press slander charges against Premier Victor Ponta and all those who drafted the report of the PM’s Control Body in the case of Hidroelectrica. He accused the authors of the report that they also mentioned criminal accusations, which Videanu finds as inacceptable, because only justice may do it. “In other words, at the order of Mr. Ponta, the only thing missing from that report is the sentences that should be pronounced by Mr. Ponta against those incriminated by the report,” Adriean Videanu said. In his opinion, the acting government dealt an unprecedented blow to the energy system. In his turn, another former minister of Economy, Ion Ariton, whose name was also mentioned by Premier Ponta, affirms in a press release that the minister notes issued during his mandate “refer to relations between state companies and have nothing to do with the controversial contracts in the energy sector, nor did they result in any loss for the state.”
