US awards base operations and services contract for missile defence site at Deveselu

According to an US embassy press release, “in support of the European Phased Adaptive Approach Phase II, the U.S. Naval Facility Engineering Command (NAVFAC) in Naples, Italy awarded a 31 month Base Operations and Services Support (BOSS) contract to U.S. firm Exelis Systems Corporation 19 March, 2013”. The contract, which is valued at USD $5.7M, will be performed at the Deveselu Base in Olt County Romania.

The BOSS contract encompasses all aspects of lodging, food service, fuel storage and dispensing, supply services, and maintenance including plumbing, electrical services, water, and wastewater treatment. “This contract is in addition to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District award of an eight-month USD 3.3 million task order on December 22, 2012 to SC Glacial PROD SRL, headquartered in Ilfov, Romania, to construct temporary facilities in support of the U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense System at the Deveselu Base”, the press release stipulates.
