MAE: 15 Romanian citizens repatriated from Syria

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs in a communiqué posted on the institution’s website that 15 Romanian citizens accompanied by a family member that holds the Syrian citizenship were repatriated to Romania on Tuesday, on the Damascus-Beirut-Bucharest route. According to the aforementioned source, the group of Romanian citizens arrived yesterday in Bucharest. Since the start of the conflict in Syria the Romanian embassy in Damascus has repatriated 288 Romanian citizens through its own means, the aforementioned source points out. At the same time, from August 21, 2012, to January 15, 2013, the diplomatic mission and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) supported, with the flights available, the evacuation/repatriation of 127 Romanian citizens, their family members, as well as 49 Moldovan citizens.
