Solutions are sought for a deal with Bechtel over compensations, Sova says

The delegate minister for infrastructure and national interest projects, Dan Sova yesterday announced that authorities try to reach, until April 30, an agreement with Bechtel company on the compensations to be paid by the state, but the contract will be terminated anyway, rtv.ro reports. While visiting the Valcele – Apahida segment of the Cluj-Napoca ring road, Sova said that, if compensations are within normal limits, an accord will be signed with Bechtel, otherwise the issue will be submitted to arbitration, but the contract will anyway be terminated, in both situations.

According to the minister, Romanian authorities last week paid the last EUR 50 M of the state’s debt towards Bechtel – “a gift from Mr. Boc.” One month ago, PM Victor Ponta said that it is essential for Romania to continue the construction of the Transilvania motorway, a financing solution for the project that started in 204 being the public-private partnership.
