Life Harbour, the biggest private naval base and the only one in Romania that offers integrated yachting services, Black Sea Sailing, the association of boat owners, and Yacht Club Regal Roman (YCRR), the oldest yachting club in Romania, have launched the McCann – Erickson Regatta Cup, a communiqué issued by the organizers shows. It’s the first time when three entities of this caliber, who individually own yachting schools and organize their own yachting competitions, join forces to launch the biggest regatta cup in Romania, the organizers announce. The McCann – Erickson Cup will include 5 regattas that will take place from June to September between the Vama Veche resort and the offshore drilling rigs in the Black Sea. An average of 25 sailing ships will take part in each competition and the total number of crewmembers will stand at 200. Each race will be monitored by international referees. The first regatta will start on June 7, 2013, being organized by the Black Sea Sailing and NauticLife; the second, the “King Mihai I” Regatta organized by the YCRR, will take place on June 21-23; the third regatta, organized by the NauticLife in partnership with LifeHarbour, will take place on July 19-21; the fourth regatta, organized by YCRR and NauticLife, will take place on August 15-18; and the final regatta will take place on August 31 – September 1 and will be organized by Black Sea Sailing in partnership with the Mangalia City Hall.
