In the first quarter of this year, Dacia registered the strongest advance of new car registrations on the French market, 24.5 pc higher than a year ago, to 22,598 units, according to data released by the French Automakers Committee. The French market diminished in Q1 by 14.7 pc against the similar interval of last year, to 433,297 units. Besides Dacia, other companies that reported increases of new car registrations were Hyundai (24.2 pc), Lexus (11 pc), Toyota (3.2 pc), Fiat (1.3 pc) and KIA (0.1 pc).
The good evolution also led to a market share increase for the Romanian brand from 3.58 pc in the first three months of last year to 5.22 pc. Dacia Sandero ranks 10th in a top of best sold models of automobile, with 9,067 units in Q1, accounting for a market share of 2.1 pc. The Top 10 is dominated by French automakers, with eight models (including Sandero). The only foreign presence is Volkswagen, with its models Golf and Polo. The Duster SUV ranks 14th (with 8,169 units and a market share of 1.9 pc), Lodgy holds the position 27 (3,357 units and 0.8 pc market share), Dokker comes 72nd (1,534 units and 0.4 pc the market).
The global sales of Dacia increased last year by 4.8 pc against 2011, to 359,822 automobiles.
