The low-cost airline Wizz Air announced in a press conference that it will operate the route Bucharest – Dubai starting October 29, initially three times a week, with online reservations being already open.
Prices start from RON 319 for one flight, all fees included, explained Mike Powell, CFO Wizz Air. “This is a new step made by Wizz Air for the development of Romania’s connections with the east and west zones,” he added. The company will operate on the Dubai World Central airport, conceived to become the world’s largest airport and to service both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. According to Powel, this will be the first low fare airline that will operate in Dubai ad the first customer of the Dubai World Central airport.
Powell mentioned that the company also wants to expand in Romania, towards zones like the north-east. The passenger terminal of Dubai World Central will be inaugurated in October and is estimated to become the main airport of the city until the middle of 2020, when – with five runways and more than 160 million passengers each year – it will become the biggest airport infrastructure in the world, according to the source.
