PSD MP voting twice gets away with it for now

Although it was supposed to be addressed yesterday, the report of the Legal Committee proposing sanctions against PSD MP of Suceava Gavril Mirza, recently seen voting both in his own name and for his colleague, Eugen Bejinariu, using his voting card, will be discussed by the Standing Bureau of the lower Chamber next week. The leader of the PSD group in the Chamber of Deputies, Marian Neacsu, notes the decision has been made for two considerations, one being that the MPs Statute Law contains provisions colliding with the Chamber Regulations and the other one referring to the Constitutional Court decision that bans the sanction of suspension of a MPs’ term. According to him, Mirza made ‘a regrettable mistake’ or negligence’ and said that, at the group meeting, he would recommend his Social Democratic colleagues to refrain from such behaviour in the future. Under the Regulations, the Standing Bureau proposes sanctions against the MP in such situations and the plenary assembly of the chamber decided how to proceed by vote.
