Hidrosind challenges in court preferential treatment of thermal power stations

The Government Resolution no 138/2013 on the passage of some measures aimed at the safe supply of electric power, which encroaches on the Romanian and the European legislation, will be challenged by Hidrosind in court during this week, hotnews.ro quoted  Hidroelectrica trade unions as announcing. “We will also notify the European Commission (D.G. Competition), the IMF-WB-EC joint mission and the Competition Council over this abuse being committed,” Hidrosind also said. This is not the first time Hidrosind contests in court a normative document passed by the government. In December 2012, it won a trial contesting a government decision on grounds it lacked all the approvals needed toward passage. “We consider that, thru this measure, the Romanian Government does nothing but continues, under a different form, subsidizing some producers at the expense of others,” read a Hidrosind letter to Government, the Ministry of Economy and the Competition Council.
