Taxi drivers want to raise prices

Some 1,000 taxi drivers protested Tuesday, at 11.00 AM, at the Izvor Park in Bucharest, until 12.30 hours, in a rally held one hour earlier than initially announced, then they returned to work, realitatea.net informs. The main purpose of the protest was to demand the Chamber of Deputies to urgently adopt draft Law 621/2010, in the form debated by the Lower House on 24 April 2012, informed Claudiu Sapunar, president of the National Association of Independent Hauliers and Independent Taxi Operators.

More precisely, taxi drivers want authorities to allow them raise the standard fare from 1.39 RON/km to 2 RON/km and to prohibit the operation in Bucharest of taxis registered in the Ilfov County. According to Sapunar, they gave authorities two weeks to solve their demands.
