Unemployment rate was 5.58 per cent in March, with a total of 492,427 registered unemployed people, fewer by 17,982 than in February, according to a press release received from the National Employment Agency (ANOFM). The rate of unemployment recorded at the end of March was lower by 0.20 percentage points than in February and by 0.43 percentage points compared to March 2012.
Compared to February, the rate of unemployment among men decreased from 6.47 per cent to 6.22 per cent and among women from 5.02 to 4.78 per cent. According to ANOFM, most unemployed people in Romania are aged between 40 and 49. The unemployment rate dropped in the Counties of Alba, Harghita and Gorj, and the highest levels of unemployment were reported in the Counties of Vaslui, Mehedinti and Teleorman.
