Romania’s Elena Andries (48-kg category) won 3 medals at the European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana – silver in the snatch event, bronze in the clean and jerk event and bronze in the overall rankings, Agerpres informs. The 19-year-old athlete managed to lift 81 kilograms in the snatch event, finishing on second place behind Italy’s Genny Caterina Pagliaro who lifted 82 kilograms (Azerbaijan’s Silvia Anghelova won bronze after lifting 80 kilograms). The Romanian athlete lifted 93 kilograms in the clean and jerk event, finishing third, behind Pagliaro and Silvia Anghelova, both of whom lifted 94 kilograms. Anghelova won gold. Andries finished on third place in the overall rankings, with a total of 179 kilograms, in a tie with Silvia Anghelova who was 33 grams lighter than the Romanian athlete (Andries has 47.88 kilograms while the Azeri athlete has 47.55 kilograms). Italy’s Pagliaro topped the overall rankings with a total of 181 kilograms.
