Johannis: Ponta should meet with Merkel

PNL First Vice President Klaus Johannis said Tuesday night that PM Victor Ponta should meet with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, adding he hoped the rumour about their meeting recently published in the mass-media was true. ‘I don’t know why they haven’t met, but, in my opinion, they should. So I hope the rumour that talks have been scheduled is true’, realitatea.net quotes Johannis as having said. He further noted that a rapprochement between Romania and Germany would be a positive thing. ‘I trust we all agree that relations between Romania and Germany could be much better than they are now. We do have good economic relations, we do have many German investors here, and yet we permanently live under the impression of a chillness that should not exist. For this reason, I can say the PM ought to pay a visit to Berlin, meet up with Chancellor Merkel and take bilateral relations a bit higher’, Johannis said.
