Yet another scandal surrounding military pensions: Pensioners must pay back hundreds of RON

Mircea Dogaru, president of the Laid-off Military Trade Union, told a Realitatea TV program that several pensioners saw their pensions decrease over the past month and they receive decision according to which they must return hundreds of RON corresponding to the past two years. According to Dogaru, such decreases are the consequence of a “secret” Government Decision in 2011. “It’s been a month when since this happens on a daily basis across the country, since around the time we and the USL agreed on an emergency reparation law given the great chaos involving military pensions. We have come up with two law proposals to bring illegalities to an end and get back to normality. It’s been a month since pensions decreased to those who had already seen their pensions decreasing, even to those who had their pensions increased at first only to see now catastrophic decreases. People see their pensions decline for the third time and thousands of RON to pay back for the past two years,” Dogaru said. He pointed out there is no ministerial decision at stake. “This is not about a law, but the Government Resolution 1294 from 2001, improved by Mr. Boc’s secret Resolution no 1019/2011. I asked Ponta to declassify this resolution three months ago (…) I have officially called on the MAI and MoD to ask subordinated structures to no longer issue revision decisions  for as long as negotiations are on” Dogaru outlined. According to estimates by interviewed pensioners, nearly 30,000 people suffer pension cuts.
