Romanian exports have grown by 8.1 per cent in the first two months of 2013, against the same period last year, an Economy Ministry release informs. The upward trend continued in February vs. January by 4.6 per cent. The exports’ structure reveals constant improvement as the weight of the machine building industry and transport equipment has reached 42.4 per cent. Manufactured products represent 76.4 per cent of total exports. No less than 70.7 per cent of exports target the European Union countries.
The exporting trends in the first two months show the growing possibilities in 2013, as there is a real potential to capitalize the strategic partnerships with Turkey and the US and the one with China, partnerships allowing increasing exports towards companies in these countries. The main products for Romanian exports are spare parts and components for autos. Imports are made up mainly by investment goods or industrial completion products for Romanian industry and, on the other hand, energy and raw materials. The agri-food products represented 7.7 per cent of imports and 6 per cent of exports.
