Under the slogan “We support the Romanian capital,” Romania’s richest man in 2012, according to Forbes, Ioan Niculae, President of the InterAgro group presented the purpose and objectives of his latest endeavour ‘The Local Investors Forum Association’ which he launched Wednesday. “The idea appeared against the background of an unprecedented economic crisis, which we often try to hide under the rug. The idea is not about making an association against somebody, or fight somebody. Often, in the majority of administrative acts one can see the lobby made by the Foreign Investors’ Council. We have more than 1.2 million employees in our companies. For the last 6-9 months we witnessed a fierce reaction of the state against Romanian investors.
This association will never be someone’s plaything, neither that of Niculae, nor of Luchi Georgescu, or Turcu.
Has anybody ever consulted us when the government privatised the Romanian electricity or gas? We want to enjoy equal treatment as foreign investors,” Ioan Niculae said. The event was attended by more than 400 Romanian investors, which want to represent the interests of the local capital in the relations with authorities and the European Union.
