1st “Write about You” Theatre Festival, Bucharest, May 10 – June 10

The performances will be held at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), Act Theatre, Bucharest Art Theatre, Comedy Theatre, Apropo Theatre, Legere Cafe, Lente&Cafea JoinPoint and UNATC.’

The first edition of “Write About You” Theater Festival, whose topic is “Who do we tell stories to?” will take place in Bucharest, May 10 – June 10, Mediafax reports. No fewer than five performances will be shown for the first time as part of the festival that convert personal experiences into theatre works dealing with some very pressing Romanian topics.Eight more plays created in the “Write about You” workshop will be presented as reading performances. The festival will also host “Solpadeine is my boyfriend”, an Irish play written by Stefanie Preissner and directed by Gina Moxley.The Festival will also include a theatre and acting workshop coordinated by director Gina Moxley and actress Stefanie Preissner. The two guests set out an experience exchange with participants by means of creative acting and theatre exercises that develop the festival’s theme, “Who do we tell stories to?” Also, trainers Vera Ion and Sorin Poama will perform an open workshop part of which they will engage spectators in creating a playwright exercises based on the “Write about You” method. The workshops will exemplify how to convert some personal experiences into dramatic texts.The theme of this first edition of the festival will also extend to the level of experimental street actions that suppose interactive exercises between members of the “Write about You” group and outsiders, with the purpose of documenting such actions. The experimental team members will note their reactions to outsiders and the latter’s, with the material to be used later on for a magazine of the “Write about You” platform.The Festival will also include an evening dedicated to the screening of five short films starting from texts produced at the “Write about You” workshop.  The “Write about You” writing and acting workshop was set up in 2009 by director Vera Ion and actor Sorin Poama. More than 100 trainees have attended the workshop so far –dedicated to the writing of theatre or film scripts based on a personal experience. The festival organizers encourage the theatre audience to come up with personal stories up to 100 words.
