The head of the National Authority for Tax Administration (ANAF), Serban Pop, was replaced after a discussion with PM Victor Ponta yesterday, Mediafax quotes Government sources as saying. His replacement is rumored to be Stefan Diaconu, currently Secretary of State with the Ministry of Economy, former Vice President of ANAF, under criminal investigation for an offence allegedly committed in 1996, when he was the head of a bank branch, realitatea.net informs quoting the ‘Buna ziua, Iasi’. The press has said Diaconu is close to Transport Minister Relu Fenechiu and his godson Radu Rusanu, one of the most powerful PNL leaders. Mediafax quotes political sources as saying that USL leaders met at the Parliament Monday night for talks on political subjects including the replacement of the president of ANAF.
