8th Street Delivery, Bucharest, Timisoara and Iasi, June 14-16

Street Delivery is an event that closes the streets for cars and opens them to people, converting the carriageway into a promenade area for pedestrians, bicyclers and the residents who love their city.

The 8th Street Delivery, a bid at recovering the public space by means of art, will run in Bucharest, Timisoara and Iasi, June 14-16, according to a press release from organizers. The Carturesti Foundation and the Order of the Architects in Romania opened a practice session for the 8th edition of the Street Delivery arts and architecture event. Applicants can register at www.streetdelivery.ro by May 19. Their projects, whether individual organizational or institutional, will be looked into by the Street Delivery team, with the selection results to be made public May 26. The Street Delivery 2013 sections are as follows: architecture, urbanism, design urban, landscape, civil society, ecology, environment, music, visual arts, film, theater, dance, performance and children’s activities.

The Street Delivery 2013 Logo is made by Alexandru Ciubotariu (Square Cat), illustrator, street artist and Romanian comic strip historian. Street Delivery is the only Romanian event, and one of the few worldwide, that changes its logo and visual identity every year in order to keep its imagination fresh and provide Romanian designers with an opportunity to employ their vision in order free the streets.

The Street Delivery 2013 topic starts from the notion that residents have a right on heritage fund, quality architecture and landscape, as much as they have to health and justice. This is why Street Delivery sets out a quality inhabiting exercise through heritage fund and quality architecture.

This year’s Street Delivery is the first to include Iasi among its locations.
