PSD Dolj leader steps down

Ion Prioteasa, chairman of the Dolj County Council, announced his resignation as president of the Dolj organization of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) on grounds of “misunderstandings and dysfunctions that weakened the unity of the branch team”.  “I would like that nobody links my resignation as president of PSD Dolj to the election result at the party congress. It was a competition, an, as I’ve said before I registered for the race, each of the candidates deserved to win,” said Prioteasa, who was executive president of PSD Dolj during 2001- 2008, and then became president of the PSD Dolj.

Also, from 2010 and until Saturday’s Congress, he also held the post of PSD vice-president. He has been chairman of the Dolj County Council since 2004. At Saturday’s Congress, Prioteasa ran for a fresh term as PSD vice-president and lost.
