“Shadow of a Cloud”, director Radu Jude’s most recent short film, is a contender for the Quinzaine des Realisateurs at the Cannes International Film Festival, May 16-26, organizers say. The short tells the story of a priest, played by theater director Alexandru Dabija, who, on a torrid summer day, is called to say a prayer to a woman on her deathbed. Florin Lazarescu and Radu Jude are the screenplay writers, Marius Panduru, camera director, Augustina Stanciu is the scenographer and costume designer, and Ada Solomon, the film’s producer. “A Shadow of a Cloud” is a Hi Film production made possible by the National Center of Cinematography and the SEE Cinema Network.
Radu Jude’s shorts “The Tube with a Hat” and “Alexandra”. got many awards. His feature film debut, “The Happiest Girl in the World” received the CICAE Award at the la Berlin Film Festival, FIRESCI at the Sofia Festival, Best Screenplay Award at B-EST International Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Award at IndieLisboa.Radu Jude’s second feature film, “Everybody in Our Family” got several awards, among which the Grand Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Bayard d’Or – and at the Best Actor Award at Namur IFF, Grand Prize at CinEast IFF, the Anonymous International Film Festival Trophy, the Romanian Film Days at TIFF, Best Director Award and the Public Choice Award at B-EST IFF.Quinzaine des Realisateurs is a special section of the Cannes Film Festival, aimed at showcasing the variety of expression in world cinema.
