Nastase-Tiriac Trophy: Tecau and Hanescu advance

Bucharest tournament received donation as part of the ATP Aces for Charity global initiative.

Romania’s Horia Tecau and Belarus’s Max Mirnyi (top seed pair) qualified for the quarterfinals of the doubles competition, after defeating Italy’s Daniele Bracciali and Potito Starace in two sets on Wednesday, 6-4, 6-4, the tournament’s official website informs.

The pair will next meet Romania’s Victor Hanescu and Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller. In the singles competition, Victor Hanescu (55th ATP) qualified for the second round on Tuesday after defeating Germany’s Matthias Bachinger (109th ATP), 6-4, 6-3. The Bucharest tournament received a donation of EUR 10,000 as part of the ATP Aces for Charity global initiative, a communiqué issued by the organizers informs. The check was handed to Mr. Ion Tiriac by David Massey, Vice President ATP Europe, during a ceremony that took place on Tuesday on the Central Arena of the BNR Arenas.

The Bucharest tournament has total prizes of EUR 410,200 and is sponsored by Enel Romania.
