Emir Kusturica, DragonForce and Rotfront at Peninsula Festival

Emir Kusturica, fronting his band “The No Smoking Orchestra”, and Britain’s DragonForce will play on July 19, and Rotfront, 21, at Peninsula Festival, Garbaului Valley, Cluj-Napoca, July18 – 21.

July 19 will “Unza Unza” Day at Peninsula, the creator of the Balkan gypsy-punk rock, with its most authentic representative, Emir Kustirica, and his band “The No Smoking Orchestra”, will take to the Grand Stage of Romania’s biggest rock festival.“Even since its first year into being,  the band proved that, in spite of intolerance and the most biased views possible towards them, there is a music without an antidote out there, which seduces you to dance, and this message has already reached all the corners of the world, even if the lyrics are sung in an unknown language,” reads the release, according to which DragonForce, a London-based power-speed group founded in 1999, plays positive music seeking to engage the public. “DragonForce” are easily recognized: their metal sound is the fastest.

The band was a 2008 Grammy nominee for best metal band and their popularity peaked with the release of the song entitled “Through the Fire and Flames”, which registered over 50 M viewers on Youtube,” according to the release.

The Guitar Hero diehards picked the game’s best song. Herman Li and Sam Totman play incredibly fast guitar and their talent enabled the band to sell millions of records worldwide. The band is a true juggernaut live, mostly since 2011, when Marc Hudson became the band’s singer. DragonForce’s new voice also gave a strong boost to the band to record the album entitled The Power Within (2012), and this year, the band returned to the studio. For the first time ever in Romania, the fastest metal guitarists will play live at the Peninsula Festival, July 19.On the last day, July 21, the Garbaului Valley will resonate with the “Emigrantski Raggamuffin” music sounds of Rotfront, who play an unique combination of  Russian reggae, Hungarian garage-rock, ska, klezmer and hip-hop. The band opened a new world music chapter in 2003, with an eclectic style and lyrics inspired by Berlin daily life and an immigrant’s life in a metropolis.

The founding members of Rotfront are Ukrainian Yuriy Gurzhy and Hungarian Simon Wahorn, who met in Berlin.The Peninsula Festivalul concerts are as follows: July 18 – Kaiser Chiefs (UK), Paul Kalkbrenner (DE), Utah Jazz & Stamina MC (UK), Suie Paparude (RO); July 19 – Emir Kusturica (SRB), DragonForce (UK), Benga (UK), Camo&Krooked (A) feat.
