Nadal wins eight Barcelona crown

A week after seeing his eight-year reign in Monte-Carlo end, Rafael Nadal regrouped to maintain his dominance at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell Sunday, capturing his eighth trophy in nine years at the event, atpworltour.com reports. Nadal defeated fourth-seeded compatriot Nicolas Almagro 6-4, 6-3 to notch his 39th straight match win at the ATP World Tour 500 event, taking 80 of the 82 sets he’s played. “I feel very happy to lift the trophy once again here in Barcelona. It means a lot especially after the difficult year I’ve had,” said Nadal. “The conditions were very difficult today, especially in the first six games as it was raining a lot.”
