Anticipated revenues from green stamp, under the figures expected by officials

The incomes which the government expects to receive this year from the green stamp on car registrations are estimated at just RON 365 M, half the sum planned initially by the minister and close to the volume of incomes estimated for last year, which was the lowest since the car pollution tax was enforced, Mediafax reports. The revenues anticipated by the government do not even cover the RON 400 M paid by the state as compensation this year to the more than 300,000 car owners which won their money back in court, with judges considering the tax as illegal. Minister of Environment Rovana Plumb said in March this year, when the government replaced the car tax with the environment stamp that the estimated incomes will reach RON 700 M in 2013, with the sums to be refunded as environment tax estimated at RON 400 M. Last month, the minister said that the total sum to be refunded to the account of the old tax is estimated at RON 1 bln.
