The Romanian Peasant Museum (MTR,) has been hosting since yesterday a photo exhibition called “Slovakia, Wealth in Diversity” (20-year story of one country). “Nothing better illustrates the wealth of diversity of the Slovak Republic than the significant anniversaries which this central European country commemorates in 2013. The twenty years of the Slovak Republic’s Independence represents an opportunity to speak about the youth and dynamics of a country which has undergone a successful evolution in a relatively short time, becoming a respected and legitimate member of democratic Europe.
The 1150th anniversary of the arrival of the European patron saints, St Cyril and Methodius, to the territory of contemporary Slovakia symbolizes the historic depth, cohesion and spiritual basis of this state in European civilization. According to the MTR, “Czech vs. Slovak battle”, a musical battle between the Czechs and the Slovaks, was scheduled in the museum yard yesterday on the 20th anniversary of the split of Czechoslovakia. The embassies of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in Bucharest have organized this musical battle to be fought with velvet gloves, and the peaceful means of music, drink and food. Two cembalo players, Slovak Martin Budinsky and Czech Zbynek Kopecek, were to engage in a duel, and the Slovak plum brandy, Czech beer and food from both countries accompanied the musical duel between the two artists.
