BAT makes EUR 23 M investment in Ploiesti

In September 2012, British American Tobacco (BAT) announced the beginning of expansion works to the cigarette factory in Ploiesti. Yesterday, the company inaugurated the first phase of the investment, worth EUR 23 M, and important supplementary sums will be invested in the future too, the company announced. The investment will contribute to raising the capacity of the factory by 20 pc. The debut of construction works also marked the 15th anniversary since the company started production in Romania. “Our priority remains the consumer, and our factory of Ploiesti produces not only for the Romanian market, but also for other destinations of the European Union and beyond,” said Chris Gemmell, the manager of the BAT cigarette factory in Ploiesti.
