Dinamo Bucharest turns 65

Dinamo Bucharest, one of the clubs with the richest sports records in the Romanian world of football, marked 65 years of existence yesterday. During that time Dinamo won 18 national titles, 13 Romanian Cup trophies and 2 Romanian Supercups. Dinamo Bucharest was formed on May 14, 1948, being the result of a merger between Unirea Tricolorul Bucharest and Ciocanul Bucharest. The club played in the 1948-1949 season as Dinamo A, Agerpres informs. Dinamo, the first Romanian team to reach the European Champions’ Cup semifinals in 1984, had great Romanian football stars playing for it: Mircea Lucescu, Florin Dumitrache, Dudu Georgescu, Cornel Dinu etc. The name Dinamo comes from the Greek term Dunamis, which means power, force, toughness.
