Spontaneous protest of Oltchim employees in Pitesti

Over 300 employees of the ‘Divizia Petrochmica Bradu’ near Pitesti, controlled by Oltchim, stopped working yesterday morning, as a protest against the announced layoffs. The protesters complained about the fact that they did not receive the last salary and that they were not announced how many jobs will be cut, Romania TV reports. The workers blocked DN 65 B, which connects DN 65 Pitesti-Slatina to the Bucharest-Pitesti motorway, by repeatedly crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. The employees of Divizia Petrochimica Bradu stopped their protest after approximately three hours. According to representatives of the Unirea trade union, protests will continue next days too.
