Sibiu Mayor Klaus Johannis was asked on Thursday at a press conference for a comment on the fact that ANI has declared him incompatible.“I didn’t receive ANI’s material, I was away on holiday. I had prior knowledge that they are working on the file, I exchanged letters with ANI. In my opinion it’s a confusion that ANI is making and I don’t feel incompatible at all,” Johannis stated. He added that ANI “is focusing on two cases.”“There is the Piete Company set up by us several years ago. ANI says that I am incompatible because I represent the Sibiu municipality within the Shareholders’ General Assembly (AGA), which is completely false. I never had such a mandate, so the cause does not exist. The second concerns the Apa Canal Company, a company that, after the setting up of the Inter-Communitarian Development Association (ADI), has become a regional operator.
All the mayors of the communities that are within ADI Apa are also the representatives of their communities within the Shareholders’ General Assembly at Water and Sewerage, which is regional operator, having communities from the Sibiu and Brasov counties,” Johannis explained, adding that the law of incompatibility stipulates that the mayor cannot be a member of the AGA of local companies, without referring to regional companies.Klaus Johannis pointed out that he will attack ANI’s decision in court after he receives an official note, being convinced that he will prove his innocence in court. Asked whether this ANI investigation has a hidden political motive, he pointed out that he was investigated in 2009 too after he announced he backs a certain presidential candidate. “Let’s analyze a bit when ANI took interest in me. First in 2009, immediately after I stated that I am willing to support a presidential candidate and I am willing to become Prime Minister.
