Romania, among the highest percentages of coverage of guaranteed bank deposits

The ratio between the total resources of the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund (FGDB) and the guaranteed deposits stands at 2.2 pc, according to calculations made by hotnews.ro. Romania thus has one of the highest percentages in the EU of covering the guaranteed bank deposits. Under the law that regulates the operations of FGDB, by April 30 all the 32 banks that participate in the guaranteeing scheme paid the contributions due for 2013. The sum collected at this deadline amounted to RON 446.7 M, according to fund officials. The contribution paid by banks accounts for 0.3 pc of the total deposits guaranteed as of December 31, 2012. After the collection of sums due for 2013, the resources of FGDB reached RON 3.49 bln.
