Sibiu: Doctor arrested for taking bribe from 175 patients now sent to court

The doctor from the Sibiu County Pensions House arrested for bribery in March has been referred to court by the Sibiu prosecutors on the charge of demanding and cashing a total of EUR 7,200 and over RON 21,000 from 175 patients in exchange for various medical certificates. According to a press release issued by the High Court Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday, the Sibiu Tribunal prosecutors have referred to court doctor Adrian Ienea, currently on remand, charged with taking bribe. In the indictment, the prosecutors say that, between January 30 and February 26, during which time the activity of the physician was monitored by the investigators, as a social security expert doctor, working for the Medical Expert Evaluations and Work Capacity Recuperation Office at the Sibiu County Pension House, the doctor demanded and received various sums of money and other material benefits from a total of 175 patients.
