The Governor of the National Bank of Romania, (BNR) Mugur Isarescu and Prime Minister Victor Ponta are the personalities with the highest confidence among Romanians, being also seen as best choices for president of Romania, according to a poll done by INSCOP Research in 20-28 April, quoted by rtv.net. According to the opinion poll, the first place in terms of trust is occupied by Mugur Isarescu with 42.4 per cent, the second place by Victor Ponta with 42.1 per cent, followed by Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu – (39 per cent), PNL President Crin Antonescu–(33 per cent), ex-PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu (29.9 per cent), Sibiu Mayor Klaus Johannis (29.4 per cent), ex-PM Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu (26,9 per cent) and former PSD, leader Mircea Geoana – 23 per cent. President Traian Basescu has 23 per cent confidence, up from 20 per cent in March and 20.7 per cent in February.
Ex-President Ion Iliescu enjoys 20.4 per cent confidence and PRM President Corneliu Vadim Tudor 19.8 per cent.In the second half of the standings Theodor Stolojan is rated with 19.4 per cent confidence (measured in the INSCOP poll for the first time since April), Deputy Prime Minister Liviu Dragnea – 19 per cent, businessman Gigi Becali – 16.7 per cent, ex-PDL leader Emil Boc – 16.6 per cent, current PDL President Vasile Blaga – 16.1 per cent and PC founder Dan Voiculescu – 15 per cent. In the tail stand Dan Diaconescu (PPDD), with 12 per cent and UDMR President Kelemen Hunor – 10.1 per cent confidence in April. When it comes to the personalities Romanians see as most suitable for president of Romania, Victor Ponta is believed to be suitable and very suitable by 49.4 per cent of the respondents, Mugur Isarescu by 47 per cent and Crin Antonescu by 44 per cent. Fourth comes Sorin Oprescu (42.5 per cent), Klaus Johannis (34.3 per cent), Calin Popescu-Tariceanu (33.2 per cent), Mircea Geoana (29.6 per cent), Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu (29.4 per cent) and Corneliu Vadim Tudor (21.2 per cent). Theodor Stolojan and Adrian Nastase are seen as suitable and very suitable to be president by 19.5 per cent, Emil Boc and Vasile Blaga by 14.5 per cent, Gigi Becali -13.3 per cent, Cristian Diaconescu -12.7 per cent, Adriean Videanu – 11.5 per cent and Teodor Baconschi – 8.5 per cent.The opinion poll was ordered by ‘Adevarul’ daily and included a sample of 1,050 individuals representative for the Romanian population over 18. The maximum admissible error of data is +/-3 per cent.
