UEFA: Rapid faces three-season exclusion from all European competitions

Romanian League 1 club FC Rapid Bucuresti have been fined Euro 100,000 and are excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which the club would qualify in the next three seasons (i.e. 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16), the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) decided on Wednesday, according to uefa.com.
The UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) adjudicatory chamber has met in Nyon, Switzerland, and has taken further decisions with regard to the cases mentioned in media release No. 83 of 21 December 2012.
Eight clubs had been sanctioned by the CFCB due to the presence of significant overdue payables and had to settle payments by 31 March 2013, in order to avoid the application of the suspended sanctions set out by the CFCB.
The conclusion of the investigation revealed that FC Rapid Bucuresti (ROU) and FC Arsenal Kyiv (UKR) did not fulfill the conditions set out by the CFCB. Thus all sanctions mentioned in the decision will fully apply.
FC Arsenal Kyiv (UKR) have been fined a total amount of Euro 75,000.
The report of the CFCB investigatory chamber further confirms that the clubs Málaga CF (ESP), HNK Hajduk Split (CRO), NK Osijek (CRO), FC Dinamo Bucuresti (ROU), FK Partizan (SRB), and FK Vojvodina (SRB) have fulfilled all conditions imposed by the CFCB and therefore all suspended sanctions that had been imposed will not apply.
The 2012-2013 season was disastrous for League I clubs, clubs that are facing serious financial and legal problems. Steaua (current champions) does not know how it will manage without an owner after Gigi Becali was recently sentenced to three years in jail. Dinamo wants to have results but lacks money. Rapid will play in League II and until the Romanian Football Federation’s (FRF) Executive Committee takes a decision it is not known how many teams will play next season.
