The proposals for ambassadorial posts, where the terms of office came to an end, envisage career diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FM Titus Corlatean told a press conference in Leipzig, where he attended, along with PM Victor Ponta the events celebrating 150 years of Social-Democracy in Germany. His statement included proposals for Romania’s ambassadors to the US and the Russian Federation.
Such proposals are nearing completion, according to the head of Romanian diplomacy. “And when all the terms in office will have been completed, all the mandates that come to an end now will be made public. Yet, proceedings were complied with regarding diplomatic representation standards and the proposals will be made public after that final confirmation – the signing by the president of the documents concerned – they refer to career diplomats from the ministry of Foreign Affairs with a rich diplomatic experience,” Corlatean said. Asked whether SRI head George Maior could be on the list of candidates for Romania’s ambassador to the US, Corlatean had this to say: “Mr. George Maior holds a very important position – head of SRI – he is extremely appreciated by the European and Trans-Atlantic family – he holds a position of fundamental importance for the Romanian state, so that, I know he does not takes an interest in it, and the proposals I made refer to career diplomats.”
