Road transporters gave up the protest announced for Thursday

Road transporters gave up the protest announced for Thursday after a meeting that lasted several hours with officials of the Ministry of Transport, during which they established a calendar for revising a number of legal provisions, Mediafax reports.
Transport Minister Relu Fenechiu said that, on this occasion, he learned many of the “real problems” of this sector, which must be solved urgently because they are related to the efficiency of the activity and need “a just approach of the mistakes and of the work done by these people,” the minister added. According to Fenechiu, starting next week committees and sub-committees comprising ministry officials will work on several precise objectives, legal modifications that will result in simplifying a number of regulations and finding solutions to lobby in neighbour countries. “The members of our organisation consider that there are conditions for a real dialogue with the Ministry of Transport. We also have a document that we signed jointly with the National Road Confederation (CNR) and the ministry of Transport, which provides a very precise calendar, as it was mentioned,” said Radu Dinescu, secretary general of the Romanian Road Transporters’ Union (UNTRR).
