Thirty Romanian Roma set up camp in upscale London area

A group of 30 Romanian Roma set a makeshift camp on a street in an upscale London area, contrasting strongly with the upper scale neighborhood and sparking the discontent of the local community, according to Daily Mail online. “The Queen helps and protects her people,” says 52-year-old Vasile, one of the nearly 30 Roma who sleeps in a green area on   an exclusive London street. “The Queen protests her people – everybody knows that. That’s why we came all the way from Romania to help us, too,” said Vasile. The illegal camp with dirty pillows and worn-out suitcases is strongly contrasting with the luxurious cars and the carefully manicured lawns nearby. “We are looking for work. We haven’t come here to commit crimes or beg,” says Vasile, though all they do is sift thru garbage all day long looking for food, according to the British paper. “We hope somebody from government will offer us some work and shelter, somewhere where we can live,” Vasile also said.
