Moody weather: snow in Harghita, violent storm in Bucharest

Bucharest and eight counties were hit, Sunday afternoon, by short but violent storms, with hail that destroyed crops in dozens of localities, while in the Capital several trees snapped and fell on automobiles.
According to Realitatea TV, the wind that blew in gusts of 79 km/h ravaged the Arges County and tore the roof of a block of apartments in Campulung Muscel, which fell upon several cars, seriously damaging two of them. Firefighters responded immediately and removed the debris of the roof, which had been installed just few years ago. The storm also caused havoc in the nearby commune of Bughea de Sus, where it broke an electricity pole.
In Banat, un unusual weather phenomenon occurred on European Road 70, which was covered by ice between Timisoara and Lugoj. A shower of just few minutes dropped massive amounts of hail, which completely covered several streets of Costei and a segment of the European road, hampering the traffic.
Hail also was reported at Smardioasa, Teleorman County. After just 20 minutes of precipitations, the landscape looked like in winter. According to Mediafax, the roof of a school from Leleasca, Olt County, was tore off the building.
Meanwhile, in Harghita County it snows like in the middle of the winter, although summer is just round the corner, while a locality in the Cluj County was covered by hail. At Harghita Bai, thermometers read zero degrees centigrade in the early morning, a phenomenon blamed by the locals on the Ice Saints. The Muncel village, also of Cluj County, was covered by 30 cm of hail, which severely damaged the crops of corn, tomatoes and pepper, and broke many trees from orchards, RTV.net reports.
The forecast for the next days is not encouraging. From Thursday until Monday, June 3 weather will get colder, with highs around 20 degrees Celsius and lows near 11 degrees at night.
