10th anniversary of the Honorary Consulate in Constanta

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Romania and the Honorary Consulate in Constanta celebrate tomorrow the 10th anniversary of the Honorary Consulate in Constanta, represented by Mr. Honorary Consul Laurentiu A. Lazar.
According to a press release, HM King Harald, through H.E. Øystein Hovdkinn, Ambassador of Norway in Romania, will appoint Mr. Laurentiu A. Lazar Officer of his Order of Merit (First degree). The order of Merit is conferred as a reward for outstanding achievements. It is recognition of Laurentiu Lazar’s great contribution to furthering Norwegian interests and taking care of the interests of Norwegian citizens in his territory of responsibility.
On this special occasion, the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet “Oleg Danovski” is hosting two cultural events under the auspices of the Days of the Norwegian Culture in Constanta.
In addition to cultural events, a maritime conference will be organized on the 31st of May, 1st part onboard Tall Ship “Mircea” and at the premises of the Maritime University: “Ensuring High Compentency Standards in a Challenging Market for Norwegian Shipping Industry”. The event is focused on the shipping industry, involving stakeholders from Romania and Norway. Its aim is to promote on one hand, the Norwegian shipping industry on the Romanian market and on the other hand to boost awareness on highly competent human resources, available in Romania. This initiative is triggered by several signals coming from the Norwegian shipping industry active in a continuously challenging market. For this purpose, the conference is meant to become a platform for the stakeholders from both countries to meet and together try to search for solutions regarding pressing problems (as per statistics 62 pc of the maritime incidents are due to the human errors which cost the shipping industry around USD 500 M annually). It will hopefully represent an appropriate frame for Norway, where high standards of competency are considered vital for business development, to find reliable, long term partners in Romania.
By having a two folded event, involving culture and business, this anniversary will be a celebration as well as a chance for boosting the Norwegian – Romanian relationships.
