Social security contribution down 2 pc from 2014

The reduction of social security contributions (CAS) by 2 per cent will be operated in 2014. Georgian Ghervasie, adviser for economic promotion of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, noted the decrease was possible from 2014 according to the results of the impact study to be done by the Ministry of Finance, rtv.net informs.
The decision to reduce CAS for the employer will be adopted this coming autumn, when the 2014, 2015 and 2016 budgets are to be set based on the economic results in the first two quarters and forecast for Q3 2013, PM Ponta in turn said at the ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ conference. The USL ruling programme for 2013-2016, presented in December last year, includes a gradual decrease of social security contributions owed by employers. If he had to choose between cutting VAT and cutting social security, the Minister-Delegate for Budget, Liviu Voinea, would chose the second option. ‘A reduction of social security dues owed by employers is plausible for 2014, preferable to cutting VAT. Especially since this would also encourage hiring,’ the official explained to cotidianul.ro.
