Green certificates hampers competitiveness

Romania is the most uncompetitive country in the EU because of its electricity price and did ‘a stupid thing’ when it introduced the green certificates which enable the return of investment in renewable energy in just two years, said the Minister of Communications and Information Society, Dan Nica, on Pro TV yesterday. Asked what he could offer the president of ArcelorMittal to convince him not to close down the steel plant in Galati, Nica said the measures set by the European Council would be adopted. Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Lakshmi Mittal met at Victoria Palace mid-May to discuss proposals for the optimisation of production costs at Arcelor Mittal, the head of the steel group saying he expected sustainable solutions in the sector of energy.
