Absorption rate of European funds increased by 32 pc this year

The absorption rate of European funds reached 15.18 pc at the end of May, the Ministry of European Funds informs. Compared to April 2012, the absorption rate increased by 103 pc. At the same time, the total sum attracted by Romania from structural and cohesion funds exceeded EUR 2.9 bln at the end of May 2013, up 32 pc against December 2012, respectively 103 pc higher than in April 2012. During the last days of May, the European Commission reimbursed to Romania new funds worth approximately EUR 155 M. The sum was taken via three programmes: the Operational Sectorial Programme Environment – over EUR 116.4 M, the Operational Sectorial Programme Human resources Development – over EUR 37.7 M, respectively the Operational Sectorial Programme Technical Assistance – approximately EUR 0.7 M.
