George Pufan’s nomination for European Court of Auditors gets EP’s positive opinion

The candidate proposed by Romania to the European Court of Auditors, George Pufan, received on Wednesday a positive opinion from the European Parliament (EP), in the plenary session in Strasbourg, after it was endorsed last month by the EP specialized committee, Agerpres informs. Pufan’s nomination received the endorsement of the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) of the EP on May 27, with 14 votes in favor and 13 against, after a hearing in which several members of the EPP Group, with Monica Macovei at the forefront, raised questions related to his experience in auditing, as well as how he has earned his degree in accounting at the age of 53 years, at a private university in Galati.
