Russian Security Council head in Bucharest

Before the session of Romania’s Supreme Defense Council, President Traian Basescu received Nikolai Platonovici Patrusev, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation at Cotroceni, yesterday, who is for the first time in Romania. Foreign Ministry State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu, Chief negotiator of the missile shield agreement with the US, attended the talks, according to gandul.info The Russian official also met with Romanian FM Titus Corlatean. Patrusev, who was named head of the Security Council in Moscow in 2008, was Putin’s successor to the FSB leadership, 1999 to 2008, the secret service the former KGB converted into after the dissolution of the URSS. An engineer by training, he joined KGB in 1975.
