Budget deficit narrows to 1.05 pc of GDP at end-May

The consolidated budget deficit was 1.05 percent of GDP at the end of May, by 0.15 percentage points lower than in the month before and 0.18 percent less year-on-year, informs a release Minister-delegate for Budget Liviu Voinea. The deficit falls within the limits agreed upon with the international financial institutions and is in line with the projection for the end of 2013. The budget execution this May registered a surplus of about EUR 207 M (RON 932.2 M), mainly due to the payment in advance of the salaries due for April, which were reflected in the following month. Revenues to the consolidated budget amounted to about EUR 18 bln (RON 81.1 bln), accounting for 13 percent of GDP and standing 4.6 percent higher in nominal terms compared to the same period of the year before.
