President Traian Basescu – attending European Council meeting in Brussels

President Traian Basescu is attending on Thursday and Friday the European Council meeting in Brussels, the Presidential Administration informed, quoted by Agerpres. Yesterday President Basescu was due to attend the first working session of the European summit, after which he was expected to take part in the working dinner of the heads of state and government. Today, the head of the Romanian state will participate in the second working session, and will deliver a statement to the press afterwards.
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on Tuesday that the decision on whether to start EU accession talks with Serbia will be made on Friday, June 28, at the summit of the EU heads of state and government.
According to the invitation letter sent by the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, the main themes of the meeting will be the combating of youth unemployment and improvement of EU economy financing, due to be addressed during the sitting Thursday night to be also attended by the President of the European Central Bank (ECB) Mario Draghi and President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Werner Hoyer.
