The Bucharest Tribunal (TB) was expected to give a verdict to the demand of merging the punishments of Gigi Becali and to rule on whether to release him on parole or extend his term by one more year, as DNA requests. According to the latest news, the Bucharest Court ruled to extend Becali’s executory sentence by six months. The verdict is not final, as Becali’s lawyers could challence the sentence to a superior court. The prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) said Thursday at TB that Becali committed a plurality of dangerous crimes and involving the penal participation of a criminal entourage, so he should spend one more year behind bars. The DNA official explained to judge Marin Marino Constantin that the financer of Steaua committed serious crimes and was sentenced to 3 years in prison for the worst of them. He added that the criminal activity of Becali has periodicity and rhythm, and in this context he should spend more time in detention.
