Flood damage: 74 houses, 50 people evacuated

A total of 74 homes were damaged, 50 people evacuated, 68 yards and gardens clogged up in mud, 14 bridges and 92 km of roads destroyed – this is the transitional damage report of the flood that has affected Vaslui County in the last two days, where a total of 26 localities were hit.
The reports centralised by the Vaslui Prefecture indicate that 26 localities in the counties were affected by the floods following the torrential rainfalls since the beginning of the week, with quantities of water of up to 85.5 l/sq m, Mediafax reports.
Seventy-four houses were damaged and 68 yards and gardens clogged up, 50 people being temporarily evacuated from their homes.
As for the road infrastructure, the flood destroyed 14 bridges as well as 35 km of county roads and 57 km of village roads. 140 ha of pastureland and 112 ha of arable land were flooded and nine fountains were clogged.
‘The most affected locality was Becesti, where 50 people were evacuated from 20 flooded houses. Seventeen km of county roads were damaged in the Malusteni locality and 14 km in Rafaila’, Vaslui Prefecture spokesperson Maria Costea said on Tuesday.
The flood damage report is completed by the flooding of the water pumping station in the commune of Balteni, which serves a total of 1,500 inhabitants of two villages.
